Our Concerts and Recitals
The Cathedral is a popular venue for a number of concerts throughout the year ranging from orchestras to choirs, concert bands and jazz.
music@stwoolos organises and promotes many of the concerts and recitals on our music calendar.
Others are arranged independently or may be part of special events or performances. Our Orchestra-in-Residence, the St Woolos Sinfonia, was formed in 2008 by the late Prof.Brian Peeling and brings a regular series of concerts to the Cathedral as well as performing in a variety of venues around South Wales. Other major musical events and performers have included Britten’s Noyes’ Fludde, and more recently The Riding Lights Theatre Company, and The Offstage Opera Project.

Music@stwoolos was formed in order to bring a regular series of recitals and concerts to the Cathedral. Musicians and musical groups are often booked a year in advance, and details of upcoming musical events are posted here on the website, as well as in the weekly Notices (part of the Sunday Service Sheet) and on the screens as you enter the Cathedral.
The Saturday Midday Series (generally held on the third Saturday of each month) will often afford the opportunity for students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to hone their performance skills, as well as helping to raise funds for the Cathedral to restore and maintain the fabric of the building and enable it to continue to fulfil its role in the community.

Meet The Performers
After a performance, there is often an opportunity to meet the performers over a cup of tea or coffee. Evening performances have an interval during which refreshments are available.
